What Is Your Experience Supporting SMEs in South East Asia?

Roberto has lived and worked in Hong Kong and China for over 20 years. As a highly experienced China and South East Asia professional, he incorporated, established and managed subsidiaries in Hong Kong and WFOEs (Wholly Foreign-Owned Entersprises) in China Mainland. Operationally, the primary missions were to devise and implement a comprehensive out-sourcing strategy to substantially reduce procurement and production costs (for Siae Microelettronica SpA, a Telecoms corporation); set up and manage a sales network to expand the client base and an after-sales services structure to manage local spare parts inventory and provide technical support for the existing Chinese client base in the Automotive industry (on behalf of AFT Automation Spa, an Industrial Automation & Robotics group).

While further developing, maintaining and expanding a comprehensive portfolio of world-class suppliers in China, he built and nurtured business relationships and long-term partneships with suppliers in Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, etc.

Roberto is a full member of UK CIPS  (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Chain) and has contributed articles on China procurement, out-sourcing, supply chain management and risk assessment topics (The Procurement Magazine).

Charmain’s experience with working in multi-cultural environments is very extensive. After working in South Africa and the UK and qualified with an MSc in Business Management and Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS UK), she taught Business Management and Business English in Taiwan and at a Hong Kong College from 1997 to 2002. From 2003 to 2007, as Assistant Manager, she designed and deployed all corporate operations, internal processes (admin, tax, accounting, financial reporting and HR responsibilities (KPIs, selection, hiring and training of clerical personnel), clients and vendors sales management & purchase order procedures and control, etc for Siae Microelettronica’s office in Hong Kong together with its Representative Office in Shenzhen, China. As consultant in 2015 she developed the Corporate Manual for Processes and Procedures for the Hong Kong office and 5 China regional branches of Maimex Ltd, including developing KPI’s, bonus strategies, reporting and management procedures etc.

In 2021, she co-founded Resolar Sunglasses in Hong Kong, an enterprise supporting eco products and empowering local communities in Thailand, Vietnam, India and China.
